Besides the young age, Trio Chagall has been grabbing the attention of the classical music field thanks to its recent achievements at “Trio di Trieste” Prize, where the Trio has been awarded with the Second Prize (First Prize not assigned), the “Dario de Rosa” special award for the best Shumann’s interpretation, the “Fernanda Selvaggio” special award as best trio in the competition and the “Young award” as most promising ensemble.
Trio Chagall was founded in 2013 by Lorenzo Nguyen, Edoardo Grieco and Francesco Massimino within the Conservatory of Music “G.Verdi” of Turin, under the guidance of Maestro Marco Zuccarini. Since 2015, the Trio has been studying under the supervision of Maestro Antonio Valentino.
The Trio has been successful in national and international competitions, including the 1stoverall prize at the “XXIII International Music Competition of Cortemilia”, the 1st overall prize at the “Music Competition of Moncalieri” in 2016, the 3rd overall prize and the special prize “Città di Venaria” (presented to the best youths of the 2016 edition) at the “Luigi Nono Competition” in Venaria (Turin. Italy). In 2018, the Trio was finalist and winner of the chamber music category at the Amadeus Factory competition, of which both the competition and the workshop with Enrico Bronzi were broadcasted on Sky Classic HD. Furthermore, at the “Concorso di Giussano”, the Trio recently obtained the 1stoverall prize, the special prize “Il Progresso”, the prize “Città di Giussano” (presented to the best contestants of the entire edition, amongst more than 100 enrolled participants), securing a first appearance at the Società dei Concerti of Milan.
At the same time, the Trio is involved in an intense and ongoing series of concerts all over Italy, and has performed in prestigious venues such as the “Sala Verdi” of the Milan Conservatory of Music, the Teatro dal Verme, the Palazzo Carignano of Turin during the “Classical Music Festival 2015”, the Reggia di Venaria for the event “Turin meets Berlin”, the Teatro Vittoria for l’Unione musicale, the Vatican Museums and the “Sala Sassu” at the Conservatory of Music of Sassari, obtaining great appreciation and esteem from the qualified musical milieu.
In March 2017, the Trio was chosen by the Conservatory of Music “G.Verdi” of Turin for the programme held by Maestro Bruno Giuranna, after which they performed the Piano Quartet KV.493 by Mozart with the Maestro himself. Moreover, the Trio has engaged in a number of different masterclasses, with Amiran Ganz, Christa Butzberger, Sandro Cappelletto and Christian Schuster and in the summer of 2018 attended the masterclass with Trio di Parma, obtaining the scholarship assigned to the best chamber music ensemble of the class. Since 2016, the Trio has been specialising its studies at the Academy of Music of Pinerolo, under the guidance of Trio Debussy.
