The Quatuor Metamorphoses was founded at the Conservatoire de Paris in 2016 where the four musicians were studying. It has been soon noticed and sustained by François Salque who invited the quartet to perform at many festivals around France, such as Musical’Océan, Musique à La Prée, Estivales de Puisaye, Vox Musica, Jeunes Talents de Loudun, Festival de Musique en Albret and Radio Classique.
The musicians played at the Biennale des Quatuors à cordes in 2018 at the Philharmonic of Paris and in the same year, they attended several classes organised by the European Chamber Music Academy where they have received coaching by Hatto Bayerle, Johannes Meissl, Patrick Jüdt, Petr Prause and Per Lundberg. The quartet has also taken part in the masterclasses held by Alfred Brendel during the Evian Festival and has won the Pro-Quartet prize during the European Chamber Music Competition in Paris.
Inspired by the Greek word metamorphose, the musicians are seeking to harmonize their four individual qualities into a unique sound and energy so to reach an identity as Quartet. One of their quality is that of coming from different musical background, which is a characteristic that they use to enrich their quartet’s repertoire.
The Quatuor Metamorphoses is currently attending a Master degree at the Conservatoire of Paris where it receives coaching by Jean Sulem (Rosamonde Quartet), François Salque (Strada Quartet) and by the members of the Ebene Quartet and the Modigliani Quartet. In 2019 they have been playing in the prestigious Pablo Casals festival in Prades alongside Michel Lethiec, in January 2020 they will be playing in the Wigmore Hall in London.
