The Quartetto Henao, whose members come from Colombia, Korea and Italy, was born at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome in 2014.
This ensemble stood out immediately thanks to the great passion and precision of the musicians which they convey to the audience at every concert they play. Not only have these qualities come thanks to members’ deep friendship, but also as a result of their’ long-term and mature experience in one of the most prestigious orchestras in the world, which has allowed them to know in person some famous soloists. The quartet’s vast repertoire ranges from classical and romantic music to contemporary one, with special interest in the rare Italian string quartet repertoire of the 20th century. Its multicultural background enriches the perfect match among the four musicians, as clearly shown in every performance.
Since its foundation, the Quartetto Henao has been coached by Günter Pichler (Alban Berg Quartet) at the Accademia Chigiana di Siena in Italy and since 2018 at the Escuela Superior Reina Sofia in Madrid. The quartet has taken part in some of the most interesting Italian festivals and chamber seasons, such as the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Festival Notti d’estate at Castel Sant’Angelo, National Archeological Museums in Taranto and Melfi, String Quartets Festival at Loro Ciuffenna, Associazione Piero Farulli, Accademia Musicale Chigiana, ProQuartet in Paris, Istituzione Universitaria dei Concerti of Università la Sapienza, Auditorium Sony in Madrid, Cappella Paolina at Palazzo del Quirinale for Radio 3, Italian Embassy in Madrid, Incontri Musicali d’estate in Osimo, International Festival in Santa Fiora.
The Quartetto Henao has been member of the Pro quartet Paris since 2016 and in 2018 it has been selected by Simone Gramaglia (Quartetto di Cremona) to take part in the network of Le Dimore del Quartetto.
In the upcoming 2020 season, the quartet will have an Asian tour and in February 2020 the debut with Orchestra Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini of Parma and Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI of Turin performing “Absolute Jest” for string quartet and orchestra, by the American composer John Adams.
