Founded in autumn of 2018, the NERIDA Quartet unites four highly individual and motivated musicians in one musical mission. Its members study in music conservatories in Bern, Luzern, Freiburg und Berlin and meet regularly for intense rehearsal sessions. They are invited to perform on stage in Germany, Italy and Switzerland.
The quartet has benefited from lessons by teachers as Jean-Guihen Queyras, Peter Rainer, Isabel Charisius (Alban Berg Quartett), Rainer Schmidt (Hagen Quartett) or Gregor Sigl and Eckart Runge (Artemis Quartett).
In 2019, the quartet was selected by Le Dimore del Quartetto and invited to the festival “Music with Masters” in Pistoia. In the same year, they won the special prize of Boris Pergamenschikow Competition Berlin as well as first prize in the Swiss Orpheus Chamber Music Competition. They were selected to take part in the autumn session of European Chamber Music Academy in Bern.
The name Nerida refers to the nereides of ancient Greek mythology, symbolizing the flowing and ever-changing element of water.
