Dynamo Camp Association (ONLUS) offers Recreational Therapy free of charge to youngsters and children aged 6 to 17 with serious and chronic illnesses, their families and healthy brothers and sisters. The activities are conducted at Dynamo Camp and through an Outreach programme in hospitals, homes families and on the Dynamo Off Camp truck in major Italian cities.
Climbing, horse riding, archery, recreational water therapy, circus school, Art Factory, Radio Dynamo, Dynamo Studios, Dynamo Musical take place at Dynamo Camp and the Radio, Studio and Musical activities are offered in the Outreach programme. Everything is organised in accordance with the principle of Recreational Therapy which focuses on play and fun but especially on stimulating children’s’ abilities and rebuilding their confidence and hope.
Dynamo Camp is located in Limestre in the Province of Pistoia, in a 900-hectare WWF affiliated reserve – Oasi Dynamo – and is part of the SeriousFun Children’s Network of camps founded in 1988 by Paul Newman which operate all over the world.
Since its opening in 2007, Dynamo Camp has hosted 6,670 children in sole camper programmes, 6,437 children, youngsters and parents in family programmes and 16,833 children in Outreach programmes, involving and training 5,481 volunteers. Today it has 54 employees and 75 seasonal staff. The Dynamo Camp network comprises over 140 hospitals and associations across Italy. In 2016 the charity raised funds of 4.61 million euros.
Dynamo Camp was set up and realized by Fondazione Dynamo, an enterprise foundation belonging to Intek Group. Dynamo Camp is privately funded.
