To follow one’s own path unburdened by pre-defined standards. One that transcends barriers and pushes all boundaries – that is the motto of the Chaos String Quartet.
The quartet won the 2020 edition of the XI. Premio V. E. Rimbotti in Italy and at the 65th JM International Chamber Music Campus they were awarded the prize for “The most promising newcomer ensemble 2020”, which includes an invitation to the Heidelberger Streichquartettfest 2022.
In addition to receiving musical impulses from a variety of artists such as Clive Brown, Hatto Beyerle, Rainer Schmidt and Oliver Wille, the group is currently mentored by Johannes Meissl (Artis Quartet) in Vienna. In 2019, the quartet was selected for the prestigious ECMAster (European Chamber Music Master) Programme: a study programme with a tailor-made curriculum to enhance their artistic expertise in an international context, which ranges from Vienna to Oslo, to Paris.
Despite being a newly formed ensemble, the quartet already performed in different Festivals such as Beethoven Frühling Baden, Podium Festival Mödling, Steirisches Kammermusikfestival, Isa Festival, Musethica Zaragoza and Festival del Quartetto Firenze, Wien Modern, Amici della Musica di Firenze and Ravenna Festival.
In 2019, the ensemble has been selected to join Le Dimore del Quartetto network.
The Chaos String Quartet has collaborate with musicians such as Avri Levitan, Hyung-ki Joo, Christoph Zimper and Jin Ju.
