CASTELLO DI BELVEGLIO, BELVEGLIO (AT)

Categories , ,

The Belveglio Castle is located in the province of Asti, in a place originally called Malamorte. It was built between the XI and XII century. Now people mostly refer to the Castle as the “Castle of Concerts”, thanks to the commitment of the current owner Marlaena Kessick (flute player, orchestra director and composer). The non-for-profit organization of the Belveglio Castle has been organizing classical and contemporary music concerts since 1976. It aims at spreading music knowledge and promoting young talents.
In Piedmont more than 1500 concerts were held thanks to the work and commitment of the organization, and all of them were free for the public. Many well-known soloists have collaborated and performed for this institution, among these the Orchestra Sinfonica RAI di Milano, Quartetto della Scala, Bruno Canino, Anna Maria Cigoli, Severino Gazzeloni, Maxence Larrieu, Sandro Massimini, Piero Toso, Giuseppe Di Stefano, Sergio Perticaroli…
Marlaena Kessick also organizes the National Competition for Composition (since 1980), the International Competition “Giulietta Simionato” for opera singers (since 1993), the “Alice Bel Colle” Prize of composition and execution, the festival “Note e Sipari del Monferrato”.
