Affinity Quartet was formed in 2014 at the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) and was awarded the 2015 ANAM Chamber Music Competition winner. Supported by the Australia Council for the Arts and a scholarship for the International Musicians Seminar, Prussia Cove UK, the quartet embarked on a six-week tour of the UK and Germany, which included classes and concerts. The Affinity Quartet has established itself in Australia by running programs that explore different stories of the string quartet, including Australian premieres of the complete string quartets of Janáček, Pavel Haas, Benjamin Britten and Sir Andrzej Panufnik. The 2019 review – NEXUS – in three parts of the Affinity Quartet includes works by Beethoven, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Borodin, Bloch, Shostakovich, Bartók and Matthew Hindson (AU). The Affinity Quartet has been an ensemble of Play On Music, Melbourne, from 2017. In 2020 they will undertake a second international tour at the Amsterdam String Quartet, Lübeck, Salzburg and London Biennale to perform in THE LIGHT, a series of concerts, among the such as a performance with the Australian mezzo-soprano Lotte Betts-Dean, in collaboration with Le Dimore del Quartetto.
