Quartetto Leonardo was born from the friendship and the common passion for the chamber music repertoire of its members: Sara Pastine, Fausto Cigarini, Salvatore Borrelli and Lorenzo Cosi.

In April 2019, the Quartet makes its debut in Carpi and at the Cappelle Medicee in Florence with “Le Last Seven Words of Christ on the Cross” by Haydn. Since then, Quartetto Leonardo has performed in various chamber music festivals: “Il Suono Giovane” in Florence, the “Mantova Chamber Music Festival”, “Autunno Musicale” of Caserta, “Ravenna Festival”, “Festival del Quartetto d’Archi” in Gropina, “Armonie della sera” in Ancona, the Festival “Virtuoso e Belcanto” of Lucca in collaboration with Le Dimore del Quartetto, the  “International Festival of the Cinque Terre”, the “Festival Verdi” at the Teatro Regio in Parma, collaborating with artists such as M. D’Amburgo, S. Cappelletto, L. Lo Cascio, F. Meloni.

The Quartet participated in masterclasses with P. Schuhmayer, O. Wille, L.M. Aguera, B. Giuranna and C. Greensmith at the Festival “Virtuoso e Belcanto” in Lucca, at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena and at the “International Concert Working Weeks” of Goslar.

Trained under the guidance of Prof. Paola Besutti, since November 2020 Quartetto Leonardo attends the Master in Kammermusik at the Universität der Künste in Berlin studying with the Artemis Quartett.

In 2021 they win the XXXX “F. Abbiati” Prize of the Italian music critics, with the awarding of the “Piero Farulli” Prize in the category of chamber music.

In 2022 the quartet has been selected to join Le Dimore del Quartetto network.

Quartetto Leonardo will soon be involved in the project “Italiani nel mondo”, the result of collaboration between the Accademia Chigiana di Siena and the Italian Foreign Ministry, in concerts for the Festival “Giovani alla Ribalta” in Varese and the Teatro Civico in La Spezia in quintet with pianist A. Taverna, as well as in a collaboration with the record company Da Vinci Classics.
