Mandranova is a farmhouse that produces extra virgin olive oil and almonds, located in Palma di Montechiaro (AG), a city known for Tomasi di Lampedusa and “il Gattopardo”.

The area offers several interesting opportunities for tourism, related to

  • culture, as the Valley of the Temples is about 20km away
  • seaside, with Scala dei Turchi and the wonderful beaches of the coast
  • cuisine, not only for the presence of restaurants of the highest level, but also for the existance of producers of wine, cheeses, flours from ancient grains and more

Mandranova has dedicated the ancient company buildings to the hospitality and has:

  • 15 rooms / superior / suites
  • an independent villa with private pool
  • an internal restaurant for the colder periods, in the garden during the summer
  • a multipurpose room, used as a living room, library and billiard room which can be transformed for conferences, parties and artist residences
  • a small swimming pool that arises from the renovation of a tank for collecting water for irrigation
  • a garden with African plants, which ends where the olive grove begins.

Mandranova offers a simple and refined welcome: cooking classes, experiences related to olive harvesting and oil production, olive oil tasting and boat trips with guests.

Once or twice during the season, Mandranova welcomes artists in residence, who work in the company and create using mainly materials they find locally. The residency ends with an exhibition and one or more works remain on display in the spaces of Mandranova. An important part of the residence is the interaction with the guests.

OIL

Extra virgin olive oil, monocultivar and multicultivar, produced exclusively in the company oil mill and from olives from Mandranova.

Cold produced, in 2 phases (without adding water) to maintain a high level of polyphenols – antioxidants beneficial to the health of the body.

ALMONDS

Sicilian almonds, natural or roasted and salted, in various packages.

MARMALADES AND JAMS

Marmalades and jams are produced on the farm, without additives, with local fruits and according to traditional recipes.

COSMETICS

Olive oil cosmetics, produced by a company specialized in cosmetics. Natural, moisturizing, and rich in antioxidants.

COOKING CLASSES
€75 per person – it includes an apron, recipes and lunch. For children there is a reduction of 50% .

The cooking class takes place in the morning, from 11am, and ends with a lunch prepared with the guests.

The recipes are exclusively Sicilian and, during the class, a first course, a second course of meat or fish, a vegetable-based dish and a dessert are prepared. The menu can be agreed with the participants.
The course is suitable for children (on request) and is also available, on request, for non-resident guests.

OIL TASTING
€ 15 per person

Olive oil tasting is a short introduction to the world of extra virgin olive oil, with an explanation of the production process, the benefits of the product on the body and the tasting techniques for the discovery of scents and flavors found in the product.

The tour is by reservation only, and lasts about 1 hour and a half.

DI VINCENZO FAMILY

Mandranova is a small family business, and Giuseppe, Silvia and Gabriele run it with passion and dedication.

Giuseppe mainly deals with agricultural management without neglecting the more pleasant aspects of hospitality. It is Giuseppe who has the pleasure of taking guests by boat to make them discover the his sea. And of course it is he who introduces guests to the world of oil with great passion.

Silvia, his wife, is the soul of the welcome, which reflects her person, simple and accurate. She teaches cooking classes, and with the olive oil tasting she teaches guests to use and taste the extra virgin olive oil.

Gabriele, their son, manages the restaurant and the oil mill. His cooking is traditional in the recipes but innovative in the techniques used. A cuisine that uses products from the company and the territory, healthy and light, while being complex and modern. Gabriele is also “the miller”, the one who transforms the olives grown on the farm into a magnificent extra virgin oil whose high quality is internationally recognized.
