Le Dimore del Quartetto

Casa Santa Caterina is built on the foundations of a modest upper-middle-class residence from the late 19th century that was known as “the doctor’s house”, home to a well-respected surgeon in the neighborhood of Santa Caterina di Noto, an intricate maze of narrow streets, courtyards and small blind alleys at the edge of the historic district.
Corrado Papa, the architect tasked with the building’s renovation, not only brought new life to the house itself but also restored the network of alleyways that surround and interact with it. The interiors are characterized by a harmonious syncretism of materials: white stone from Noto, dark asphalt stone from Ragusa, sandstone, details in humble cement and others with valuable ceramic tiles from Caltagirone. From the balcony on the top floor,
the view stretches from the cupola of the cathedral on the island of Capo Passero to the sea.
