A network of historic homes supporting young musicians
#SharingEconomy #SustainableCulture

FEBUARY 2018

A network. Historical houses and selected string quartets. Residencies and concerts. Supporting young talents and promoting territories.

A new concept of circular economy connecting the arts in a unique experience of pure beauty and discovery.

31 INTERNATIONAL STRING QUARTETS

104 HOUSES IN 4 COUNTRIES
80 CONCERTS IN ONE YEAR

The villas become precious resources for the quartets. Here they find adequate free spaces where to rehearse, live and record at the eve of an artistic commitment.

In exchange for hospitality, musicians offer a concert to the landlords and their guests. The houses regain life at zero cost becoming cultural centers and promoting their activities.

LE DIMORE DEL QUARTETTO BECOMES A EUROPEAN NETWORK

The project was born in Italy in 2016. Thanks to the collaboration with the Italian Association of Historical Houses (ADSI), Le Dimore del Quartetto rapidly developed its activities in 101 Houses all over Italy.
In 2018 European Historic Houses Association and Le Dimore del Quartetto are developing the project throughout Europe. The first houses to join have been:

The castle and grounds at Blatna are one of the most important monuments of their type in this country  from an architectural and historical standpoint. The castle’s long history, which starts in the late 12th century, and its distinct architectural style in a rare surviving environment of parks and water make it a jewel among castle complexes

CASTELLO DI MONTEGUALANDRO

Tuoro (Umbria)

PALAZZO WILSON-GATTAI

Florence

The English artist Frederick Wilson, born in Hull (England) in 1828, came to Florence to study the Renaissance, fell in love with the city its green, its hills and therefore settled there.
In 1870, when Florence became the capital of Italy, he designed his residence in the new piazza d’Azeglio and commissioned the works to the artisans of the time, among these the pre-Raphaelite painter Annibale Gatti, which also decorated Palazzo Pitti.

HOUSE OF CERAMICS

Rome

Located in the building designed by Mario De Renzi in 1927, it has the typical characteristics of the “Roman baroque” here more tending towards liberty style. The history of the house is closely linked to the arts, so much that in the neighborhood it is called “the artists’ villa”.

PALAZZO CARRATELLI

Amantea (Calabria)

Situated in the old centre of Amantea, it commands from on high the view of the town and the sea.
This historic residence was built in the second half of the XV century and restructured and extended after the earthquake of 1638.

WHAT THEY ARE SAYING ABOUT US

“The history of chamber music interpretation, that in Italy has always been

entrusted to individuals, this time can take the form of a marvellous massive

music revolution. Spread the word. And don’t miss the chance to sustain and

listen to them.”

Angelo Foletto, President of the Italian Music Critics

after the award concert of Le Dimore del Quartetto | December 2017

“The experience of the Dimore del Quartetto is, for us, the possibility to bring

string quartet in a very intimate dimension. The possibility of benefiting from

residences allows us to work peacefully, and landlords to discover the “behind

the scenes” of preparing a concert. In this way, and by spending days together,

sensations, emotions and rehearsals become a precious experience for all the

people involved, and give new energy to historic houses.”

Francesca Turcato, violist of the Quartetto Indaco | July 2017

“I think that the idea underpinning the project is really brilliant, because it

gives back to the participants much more than the modest resources invested

for its realization.”

Selma Mandelli Maggioni, Villa Gariboldi Vittadini | April 2016
