Based in Berlin, the Leonkoro Quartet was founded in 2019 by four young musicians of different origins and musical backgrounds. Currently they are studying with Eckart Runge and Gregor Sigl (Artemis Quartet) at the University of the Arts Berlin. In addition, they have received tuition from teachers such as Luc-Marie Aguera (Ysaÿe Quartet) and Jan Bjøranger. This summer, the quartet was selected to take part in an open lecture and a masterclass by Alfred Brendel in Lucca, Italy. They are participating in masterclasses at the Jeunesses Musicales, where they are scholarship holders. In summer 2019 the quartet has been awarded first prize and the “Adolfo Betti Award” for the best string quartet at the Virtuoso & Belcanto Festival chamber music competition.
In 2019, the Leonkoro Quartet has been selected to join the network of Le Dimore del Quartetto.
