The Archos Quartet is a young string quartet which was founded in November 2009 at the Musikhochschule Lübeck. The Quartet has participated in many courses and masterclasses and has been particularly fortunate to have worked with members of the: Alban Berg Quartet, Belcea Quartet, Chilingirian Quartet, Cuarteto Casals, Endellion Quartet, Hagen Quartett, Henschel Quartett, Kuss Quartett, the Melos Quartet, Sirius String Quartet, Skampa Quartet, Kwartet Wieniawski and Trio Voces Intimae. They also have been fortunate to be coached by many eminent musicians: Schmuel Ashkenasi, Christiane Edinger, Eberhard Feltz, Ralf Gothoni, Carlos Johnson, Matthew Jones, Carole Presland, Wolfgang Redik, Thomas Riebl, Paul Roczek, Andre Roy, Naomi Seiler, Milan Skampa, Barry Snyder, Alasdair Tait and Ulf Tischbirek, Luc-Marie Aguera, , Paul Cortese, Alain Mounier and Bruno Giuranna. Professional engagements have included performing in the Barbican Hall, in the Berliner Ensemble, during the Hugo Wolf Symposium Stuttgart and at the International Lake District Summer Music, the Oberstdorfer Musiksommer Festivals, the Lucca Classica Festival and Ferrara Musica Festival.

Recordings of the Archos Quartet have been broadcast by German Radio SWR. They have performed together with the Chilingirian Quartet, the violist Stefan Fehlandt and pianists Misako Osada and Joanne Calimeri. The Archos Quartet has collaborated with many contemporary composers such as: Dmitri Terzakis, Daniel Schnyder, Marina Khorkova and Jonathan Bell. After their participation at the Chilingirian Quartet Summer School at West Dean College the Archos Quartet were awarded the Quartet Residency there in 2011. They were also prize winners at the Val Tidone International Chamber Music Competition “Tina Orsi Anguissola Scotti”, Italy 2012. They have received many scholarships from fundations such as: DAAD Stipendium, Péter Horváth-Stiftung, the Rotary Club, the Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now Foundation and DOMS-Stiftung Basel.

The Quartet studied with Heime Müller (Artemis Quartet) and members of Vogler Quartet. Since April 2011 the quartet has been studying at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart (Master Study Programme, Chamber Music, String Quartet), where they were working with Gerhard Schulz (Alban Berg Quartet), Stefan Fehlandt (Vogler Quartet) and Peter Buck (Melos Quartet). They have been awarded a Guildhall Artists Fellowship for 2013/2014 at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and have been invited to perform during the City of London Festival 2014 and the Salzburg Chamber Music Festival 2014. Since 2015 quartet is pursuing Meisterklasse degree at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater “Felix Mendelssohn” Bartholdy in Leipzig with Franck Reinecke and Anne-Christin Schwarz. In August 2017 Archos Quartet won 3 rd Prize and Special Prize “Adolfo Betti” for the best string quartet at Virtuoso & Belcanto International Chamber Music Competition in Lucca (Italy). Since 2018 they collaborate with the Recording Label NAXOS for the production of CDs dedicated to forgotten composers.
